It's the last day of the off-week before preparations for the Austrian Grand Prix gets underway, and GPblog brings you the most relevant news of the day in its habitual F1 Today!

Verstappen takes a day off in the sun with his family

Max Verstappen is making the most of the break before the Austrian Grand Prix, soaking up the sun in Saint-Tropez with his partner Kelly Piquet, their daughter Lily, and Kelly’s daughter Penelope. Photos show a relaxed Verstappen paddleboarding off his superyacht while Kelly snaps pictures, with the whole family, dog Nino included, enjoying some well-earned downtime. The Dutchman skipped a gender reveal party in Monaco for Kelly’s brother, Nelson Piquet Jr., to focus on race commitments at Spa.
Now, all eyes turn to Spielberg. The Red Bull Ring is as close to home turf as it gets for Verstappen, who’ll be looking to claw back points against McLaren after a tough few races. With the championship fight heating up, the break might be over, but the fight has only just begun.

Massive crash at the Nurburgring

The 24 Hours of Nürburgring had a chaotic Sunday morning as multiple incidents shook up the field. First came a heavy collision between the #300 Dacia, driven by Martin Kaffka, and the #74 Aston Martin, driven by Aris Balanian. The wreck was significant enough to force the rest of the pack to slow and carefully weave through the debris.
Later, even more drama unfolded at the front. Kevin Estre, in the race-leading Porsche, made contact with a backmarker, the Aston Martin GT4 driven by Rolf Scheibner, sending it flipping off the circuit. While the crash looked brutal, Scheibner was taken for medical checks and is reportedly doing okay.
