As always, let’s take a look at the two main news stories of the day, on a day that saw Lando Norris triumph at the end of a chaotic British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Piastri unfairly penalised? The Aussie is NOT on the same page as the stewards

Oscar Piastri in the press conference at Silverstone
After missing out on pole position in yesterday’s qualifying, Oscar Piastri was delivering one of his typically solid performances, making a lightning-fast start that allowed him to attack Max Verstappen in the opening stages and quickly pull away from the Dutchman and his teammate Lando Norris, who was running third at the time.
Then came the controversial incident under the Safety Car, with the stewards deciding to penalize the Australian driver—even though it was technically Verstappen who overtook him
A similar incident had happened quite recently in Canada, also involving Max Verstappen, but on that occasion no action was taken.
In the end, it was Lando Norris who won his home Grand Prix, cutting the gap to 8 points in the standings behind his teammate. Nico Hulkenberg also managed to claim his first podium finish ever, as the Sauber driver crossed the finish line in P3.

Verstappen left surprised: why no penalty for Russell, but one for Piastri at Silverstone?

At Silverstone, Piastri suddenly hit the brakes behind the Safety Car, which led to Verstappen overtaking him.
Not long after, the Dutchman lost control on cold tyres and spun, dropping several positions. It wasn’t until after the race that Verstappen learned Piastri had been handed a ten-second penalty—something he felt was a bit harsh.
The Dutchman was surprised that Piastri actually received a penalty, while for a similar incident in Canada a few weeks ago, Russell was not penalized by the stewards.
