Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez has confirmed that he will return to action this weekend in Mugello following a successful double surgery after his crash in Le Mans.
The number 93, who has suffered a difficult start to the 2026 campaign, took to Instagram to announce his return after a period of speculation as to whether he would recover in time to compete in Ducati's home race.
Marquez, who currently sits in 9th place in the overall standings and 85 points behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi, was sidelined after fracturing his fifth metatarsal during a nasty highside in the Le Mans sprint race. However, that wasn't the only issue. Marquez subsequently revealed to his team that he had been dealing with a persistent irritation to his radial nerve with a loose screw pressing on it from a previous operation.
After the Le Mans crash, Marquez took the opportunity to deal with both injuries at once and underwent a double surgery. Amazingly, the seven-time premier class champion only missed a single round, the Catalan Grand Prix, and is now set to return in Mugello.
Earlier this week, GP Blog reported how Marquez was already training in preparation his potential return, but the timeline still looked doubtful given the severity of his injuries. In typical Marquez fashion, 'The Alien' is bouncing back quicker than imagined as he looks to set about defending his title this year.
