A new short documentary from Ducati Corse has shown the moment Marc Marquez revealed to his team that his shoulder was indeed the cause of many of his struggles in 2026 so far.
The clip from the French Grand Prix in Le Mans shows the emotion inside the garage as the team realise that his chances of competing for the world championship may be over already.
Marquez suffered a massive high-side during the Le Mans sprint and broke his foot while trying to save it, but the Spaniard later revealed that he was already scheduled to undergo surgery after the Catalan Grand Prix to attend to a prior shoulder injury.
There has been much speculation regarding the reigning world champion and his relatively poor start to the 2026 campaign, with many fearing that previous injuries are finally catching up to the 33-year-old.
So far, the seven-time premier class champion has failed to score a single Sunday podium in 2026, and is only propped up to 7th place in the overall standings due to his impressive, and sometimes lucky, sprint performances.

In the latest episode of Ducati's "INSIDE Ducati Lenovo Team" series, the crew captured a touching moment between Marquez and his team as the decision was made to withdraw from the Sunday race as well as the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix this weekend.
"I didn’t say anything…" begins Marquez, "There’s a screw that’s giving me nerve problems. On and off. [...] I’m riding with one and a half arms. They have to remove a broken screw that during the crash in Indonesia… They saw it moved."
After Jerez, I went for a check-up. I felt something was wrong. When I get into the riding position, that broken screw… After Indonesia, it moved and touches the nerve."
"[It’s] the nerve I use for three fingers and the whole [right] arm. It takes away my strength. Yesterday, in the time attack, you asked me what happened in that corner. I knew what happened in that corner... And today too. For a few laps, everything is fine… A few laps later, not so.
