Oliver Bearman has once again been hit with a penalty. During the third practice session of the British Grand Prix, the Haas rookie allegedly failed to comply with the red flag.
FP3 was an eventful one as there were two red flags. One for Bearman as debris fell from his car and needed to be clean. The second was for gabriel Bortoleto as he spun and was beached in the gravel.
It was during the second red flag that Bearman failed to comply.
The FIA decision document said, "Car 87 had slowed down for the red flag and, as he was approaching Turn 15, accelerated significantly to race pace and entered the pit entry road at 260kph. He lost control of the car in the pit entry road and crashed into the barriers."

Hefty penalty for Bearman

Thus, the FIA stewards have decided to give him a 10 place grid penalty and four penalty points.
"Drop of 10 grid positions for the next Race in which the driver participates. 4 penalty points (total of 8 for the 12 month period)."
The addition of these four points put him at eight penalty points for the year. He now finds himself at the top of the penalty list next to Liam Lawson and Max Verstappen.

This is not the first time that Bearman has received a grid place drop and penalty points for failure to comply with a red flag. His previous two penalty points also came from the same infringement.
However, he is the first driver to ever receive four penalty points for one incident.
Bearman will join Antonelli as the Mercedes rookie has a three-grid place penalty due to crashing into Verstappen during the Austrian Grand Prix.
