The FIA has completed its review process of the 2024 budget cap, releasing the results following recent rumours and speculation. Nine out of ten teams compliant with 2024 budget cap
The FIA confirmed that
“9 F1 teams were found in compliance for 2024, while a procedural breach was identified for AMR GP Ltd (Aston Martin).”All other teams were therefore found to be fully compliant with the $145 million cost cap for last season, with the governing body detecting no irregularities in the financial submissions.
The FIA document also stated that “the CCA confirms that although AMR has been found to be in Procedural Breach, it has not exceeded the Cost Cap level, and that the Procedural Breach was of a very minor nature, originating from unpredictable circumstances outside the team’s control.”
The FIA confirmed it had entered into an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) with the British team on September 29 to “solve the matter.”
As for the minor infringement committed by Aston Martin, “the Cost Cap Administration offered AMR an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) to resolve the matter, which the team accepted.
“The Cost Cap Administration acknowledged that exceptional and unpredictable circumstances led to the procedural breach.”
The FIA added that Aston Martin “acted cooperatively and in good faith throughout the review process.”
“No financial penalties were imposed on AMR due to these exceptional and unpredictable circumstances, and the Cost Cap Administration confirmed there is no accusation or evidence that AMR sought or gained any undue advantage as a result of the breach.”
As for the PU manufacturers, the FIA also confirmed that all five constructors were found to be in compliance, with no breaches detected.
F1 paddock reacts after Aston Martin admit cost cap paperwork slip
As mentioned, Aston Martin have accepted responsibility for a procedural breach of
Formula 1’s 2024 cost cap regulations, after it was discovered that a required signature was missing from the documentation submitted to the FIA.
The news naturally sparked reactions in the paddock on the eve of the Mexican Grand Prix, with the team principals of Ferrari, Sauber, and Haas questioned on the matter during Friday’s team principals’ press conference.
