Will Max Verstappen change his racing approach in wheel-to-wheel battles now that he’s at serious risk of receiving a race ban? The Dutchman addressed the topic on the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix.
Following the penalty at Montmeló, Verstappen finished the Spanish Grand Prix in tenth place, slipping to 49 points behind Oscar Piastri in the drivers’ championship standings.
Despite the risk of a race ban being higher than ever after picking up three penalty points in Spain following the bizarre clash with George Russell, Max Verstappen has no intention of changing his approach on track.

Verstappen will not change approach

Reflecting one last time on what happened in Barcelona last week, the four-time world champion commented: ''There's nothing that you can do about it. So we just focus ahead, trying to do the best we can every single time. It's not changing my approach and I cannot speak for others''.

When asked how painful it would be if he were to actually miss a race, Verstappen finally responded: 'If you look at it, you know, in general, missing a race is not ideal but it's not the end of the world''.
George Russell was, of course, also questioned on the same topic. According to him, a race ban would be fully deserved if it were indeed handed out: "If he reaches his 12 points, it's not unjust''.
"It's there for a reason. If that had taken me out of the race, it should be judged differently."
