It’s no secret that Max Verstappen wants to compete in other racing series alongside—or perhaps after—his Formula 1 career. An adventure in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) appears the most likely. However, the door is also wide open for the Dutchman to make a (one-time) appearance in NASCAR.
The Trackhouse Racing team in NASCAR is sponsored by Red Bull this season. They run an initiative called Project91, which invites international stars from other racing disciplines to participate as guest drivers in a NASCAR race.

Why Verstappen can compete in NASCAR

Former F1 champion Kimi Räikkönen, Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, and three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen have all taken part in NASCAR through Project91. Former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick, speaking on his podcast, suggested that Max Verstappen could very well be next in line to join them.

The American believes that with the help of Red Bull, he could make his debut in NASCAR: "We've seen him in a few other, minor races before. So, I think it becomes a lot easier to open those doors if he's not racing in Formula 1," said Harvick.
"With Red Bull involved, I'd say that door to Project91 probably stands a lot more open than ever before."
