Liam Lawson revealed that he received some tips from Daniel Ricciardo on how to best tackle the Canadian Grand Prix — a race in which Ricciardo qualified an impressive fifth last year with Racing Bulls. Could Daniel Ricciardo have started a new chapter as a driver coach after hanging up his helmet last year? It might seem that way, judging by Liam Lawson’s words on the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix — a track that has always been a favorite of the Australian driver.
It was here, in fact, that the Perth native claimed the first of his eight
Formula 1 victories back in 2014. Even last year, despite a rather underwhelming season, Ricciardo managed an impressive fifth place in qualifying.
''I actually spoke to Daniel last week about this track and he loved it, so yeah I'm looking forward to it'', the RB revealed.
''It's good to know that obviously the car was faster last year, but at the same time, it's quite often now that we look at last year's results, and to be honest, they don't repeat themselves a lot of the time''.
''So tracks that maybe we haven't been strong at, we've actually been strong at this year and vice versa. So I think we just have to take it like any weekends. For me personally, it's a track that I'm very excited for. It's an iconic place, it looks like a fun track''.

What tip Ricciardo actually gave to Lawson?
''Use lots of kerb, that's probably the main one'', the New Zealander responded.
''It's just a track where edge drivers is a bit unique compared to most tracks that we drive on. It can be quite bumpy and obviously there is a lot of kerbs''.
Lawson’s season so far hasn’t featured any major highlights, with his demotion back to Racing Bulls after just two races still weighing heavily on his campaign. Yuki Tsunoda, for his part, hasn’t fared much better — at least not up to now — to the point where, in recent weeks,
talk has begun to circulate about Isack Hadjar as a potential new candidate to partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull.
