All four cars with
Honda engines managed to finish in the points on Sunday in Russia. Something that the technical director of
Honda Toyoharu Tanabe is only too pleased with. Contrary to the previous Grands Prix, all four cars had no motor problems.
Four cars in the points
Tanabe is delighted with the result on the
Sochi Autodrom.
"It was a good day from a Honda point of view, with four cars in the points for the first time since last year’s Monaco Grand Prix," says Tanabe on the
Honda website.
The result is even better because
Max Verstappen had problems in the last two races.
"That is particularly satisfying after we had experienced some reliability issues in the last couple of races. Max and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing delivered a good performance to split the Mercedes and finish second," continues Tanabe. Tanabe has not escaped the strong performance of AlphaTauri either, the Japanese is very pleased with the overtaking manoeuvres of
Pierre Gasly and
Daniil Kvyat.
Focus on the next race
The focus is already on the next race at Honda.
"We now return to Europe and the Eifel Grand Prix in Germany in a fortnight. It will be the first time we have raced at the Nurburgring in this hybrid era, so we will be doing plenty of simulation work in preparation for it," concludes Tanabe.
