Marc Marquez put in yet another superhuman qualifying performance to take pole position for the Australian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard crashed on his first run but, remarkably, emerged on a second Ducati to go fastest by almost 1.5 seconds.
Title rival Jorge Martin could only muster fourth, with Alex Marquez in second and LCR veteran Johann Zarco third.
Home hero Jack Miller booked an incredible second-row start in fifth for his final home race in MotoGP.
How it unfolded

The session began with the pit exit full of bikes as rain started to fall almost instantly.
Marquez was one of the first out, and therefore one of the first to cross the start line.
However, his time attack was over as quickly as it began when he crashed out at Miller corner.
Zarco then went fastest by a huge margin, and it looked like the session may be over with him on pole.
Yet as the rain began to ease, Marquez was making his way back to his garage for his second Ducati which he jumped on and did the incredible for the umpteenth time in his career.

The nine-time champion incredibly went fastest, only for things to further clear up and the whole grid head out once more.
Zarco took top spot back, and home hero Miller went second, but when the chequered flag fell, again Marquez left jaws on the draw as he went fastest by almost a second and a half.
Title rival Martin could only take fourth, while teammate and the man third in the championship, Marco Bezzecchi, was eighth.
