The qualifying for the
Hungarian Grand Prix is over. Some remarkable things happened and in the end,
Max Verstappen had to settle for third place, while Mercedes took the first row on the grid.
During Q2 things went wrong for
Carlos Sainz, who ended up in the wall. Because of this, he will only start from fifteenth place. A red flag was raised and after a short stop, qualifying could be resumed. Also during Q3, something remarkable happened, as
Lewis Hamilton drove very slowly towards the finish. Because of this
Sergio Perez missed his last run and finished on P4.
So the front row of the grid is
Lewis Hamilton on pole, followed by his teammate
Valtteri Bottas. Verstappen and Perez are on the second row.
Pierre Gasly and
Lando Norris are on the third row, a good result for both drivers. Also noteworthy is the team of Alpine, which will start with both drivers in the top ten.
