Kimi Antonelli took his ninth victory of the season at the United States Grand Prix, but his wait goes on to become Formula 1's youngest ever drivers' champion.
The Italian kept the lead at the start, while Max Verstappen had to overtake Charles Leclerc to get back into second on the opening lap. George Russell was handed a five second penalty for running off track and gaining an advantage over the McLaren of Oscar Piastri.
There was a difference in strategies as Verstappen and the two Ferrari drivers opted for a two-stopper while Antonelli pitted just once in the Mercedes. This meant Verstappen had a 19-second gap to close on Antonelli after making his second pit stop.
Verstappen passed Lando Norris for second but going even quicker was Leclerc who managed to pass the Red Bull driver with six laps to go. Leclerc showed tremendous pace but the gap to Antonelli was too big to recover.
Hamilton got past Norris for fourth, with Isack Hadjar, Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Liam Lawson and Pierre Gasly completing the top 10.
