Norris declares he was 'on another level' to Piastri after Hungarian GP win

The reigning world champion ran close to the back of Piastri throughout the opening two stints of the race, after losing the lead to the Australian on the opening lap. Norris comfortably had the better pace and the race turned on its head after Piastri made his second stop.

The Williams of Carlos Sainz turned in on Piastri and made contact with the McLaren, causing the Australian to lose vital time as Norris rejoined in front of him after he too made his second stop. Piastri would retire from second with a gearbox issue, but after Norris had already built a comfortable lead out front.

Speaking after the race, Norris said he was better "in every sense" than his teammate. He said during the post race press conference: "What pleased me the most, just the fact we were so quick, the car was very strong today. I was very happy with a lot of things. The car was still horrible to drive at times but quick and I would prefer a horrible but quick car rather than anything else.

Norris has also targeted more wins this season after his first victory of the campaign, insisting that he knew a win was coming for him.

Speaking after the race, he said: "I certainly want to believe that we can continue it. There’s going to be moments where we’re going to struggle more and moments that might be even better.
