International media agree on Norris as Verstappen steals the show in Hungary

The race got off to an uncharacteristically chaotic start, with several drivers – including Ferrari's Charles Leclerc – losing positions into Turn 1. What followed quickly developed into a fascinating strategic battle. While Ferrari searched for a way to help Lewis Hamilton overcome Max Verstappen, McLaren once again reminded the grid of their much-discussed Papaya Rules.

Not everything went according to plan, however. Oscar Piastri was released into traffic despite receiving priority at the pit stops and was subsequently collected by Carlos Sainz. Verstappen then produced a sensational overtake on Hamilton, before a late Virtual Safety Car shuffled the order once again. Hamilton's race unravelled further after receiving a penalty for speeding in the pit lane, capping off a chaotic afternoon. With the dust now settled in Budapest, here's how the international media reacted to the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The German publication led with Norris ending his victory drought, while also praising the reigning world champion for keeping his composure during the intense battle at the Hungaroring.

The Spanish outlet focused on Norris' resurgence after a difficult spell, while also highlighting Kimi Antonelli's impressive podium finish. Marca noted that it was Norris' second successive victory in Hungary and suggested Antonelli would cherish third place despite narrowly missing out on victory.

The publication added: "No one matched Norris' pace as he secured his 12th career victory and his first as world champion. McLaren returns to winning ways, although the championship heads into the summer break with Andrea Antonelli firmly in contention."

The Italian newspaper also centred its coverage on Norris' victory, while praising Verstappen's podium finish and spectacular overtake on Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton. It also highlighted Antonelli's podium and Carlos Sainz's costly collision with Piastri.
