Max Verstappen and Lando Norris had a brief exchange while talking to the press after the race. The two seemed to joke about battery usage and the rules. Norris believes the drivers’ opinions don’t matter at all. He said that to
Viaplay after finishing fifth in the
Japanese Grand Prix. Teammate Oscar Piastri finished in second place. Norris was waiting for Verstappen in the media pen, and the two laughed when they looked at each other.
At that moment, Verstappen was talking about his wishes regarding the changes that need to be made to the regulations. “Really? I never even mentioned it (batteries) this year," Norris said sarcastically.
“It was the best racing I've probably ever seen,” he added in the same tone.
He then continued in a more serious tone: “That was a positive day for us as a team. It was a lot of points with Oscar second, congrats to him. First for me, getting Lewis for two laps to go, so it's good points. We outscored Ferrari, which is a little surprise and a very nice gain for us. So yeah, it was a good day."
‘It doesn’t matter what we say’
Like Verstappen, Norris also has to answer the question about the spring break, during which there is discussion about what needs to change in the regulations. “There’s no point of saying it, honestly. It doesn't matter what we say," Norris said.
“Because as long as the fans enjoy it, that's all that matters."
Prior to qualifying in Japan, a small change was also implemented, but several drivers had already indicated that it would make little difference.
Verstappen once again emphasized that many changes need to be made to fix the problems.

The reigning world champion is therefore focusing on the positive things within the team.
"A lot of good things, the start, the first lap, for us to get into first and third was a nice feeling. Didn't last too long because I had Kimi (Antonelli) behind me.
He added: "So yes, it was just some positives and a good race from us because I think we know we probably weren't expecting to be so strong. But we've been pretty good the whole weekend and we know we have some stuff coming that will help us go a little bit quicker. So for us to already fight for these kind of positions and for us to fight for a win today was a very good thing."
