“We've had a lot of discussions.”
- Oscar Piastri
Piastri, speaking to the media during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, explained that there had been talks over the incident, with further clarity provided on how the team will approach racing in similar situations going forward. The 24-year-old concluded by expressing his excitement to return to action on the streets of Baku.
”I mean, naturally, there have been talks. Yes, we've had good discussions with the team. Obviously, highly talked about the moment, but yes, we've had a lot of discussions, clarified a lot of things, and we know how we're going to go racing going forward, which is the most important thing. What's happened is done, and I'm excited to get racing here.”
During the Italian Grand Prix, McLaren’s decision drew the spotlight after Piastri was ordered to swap positions with Norris following a pit stop mishap that had initially compromised the Briton. Although Piastri complied with the team order, he did not hide his frustration with the situation.

Piastri on pit wall interference at McLaren after Constructors’ title win

Oscar Piastri was also asked whether the McLaren pit wall might interfere less in racing incidents once the team clinches its Constructors’ Championship. Sharing his thoughts, the 24-year-old stressed he does not expect reduced involvement in his battles with Norris, reiterating that everyone within the team remains on the same page.
“Not necessarily because of the Constructors' Championship but I think we've again had a lot of discussions about how we want to go racing and a lot of that is to stay for us because ultimately, if we give out that information, then we become very easy targets to pick off because everyone knows what we're going to do. That's all very aligned with all of us, but it stays in-house.”
