"He definitely enjoys it more than I do. He's a guy who just loves racing"
- Alex AlbonSpeaking to the media on the eve of the Azerbaijan weekend, the Williams driver expressed his happiness for his former teammate: "I was playing with him on the way here, so we had a good chat about it.
"He loves his GT racing. I would say he definitely enjoys it more than I do. He's a guy who just loves racing. It's fun to just talk to him about it because it's a clear passion of his. I think it's partly what separates him from everyone else.
"He just can't stop driving. So good for him. I think he's—I can't say too much—but it looked like he was invested in it. That's for sure."
How much did Verstappen pay to secure Nordschleife permit?
Over the past weekend, the four-time
F1 world champion visited the legendary Nürburgring with one clear aim: securing the DMSB permit. This license would have allowed him to compete in GT3 races and, most importantly, take part in next year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring—an event he has long set his sights on.
Despite his multiple F1 titles, Verstappen was not given any special treatment and had to complete all the required steps to earn the license.
The process carried a cost: €1,790 for the full training and exam, plus a yearly fee of €102 to maintain the permit. To keep it valid, he will also need to participate in at least one Nordschleife race every two years.
Verstappen set to participate in Nurburgring 24h
In a recent interview with Sport.de,
Helmut Marko confirmed that Verstappen will be able to participate next year, as the event does not conflict with the
Formula 1 calendar.
