Lance Stroll joins Charles Leclerc on the absentee list for Thursday's media day ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, as the Canadian continues to recover from a viral infection contracted in Mexico.
In a statement, Aston Martin confirmed that the Canadian driver is recovering well and the team are confident he will return to the paddock on Friday.
Stroll joins Leclerc in missing Thursday's commitments at Interlagos, although the Ferrari driver's absence follows the birth of his first child. Leclerc and Alexandra Saint Mleux revealed the birth of their baby daughter, who has been named Bianca.
Leclerc also has a little extra time to travel to Sao Paulo. The Ferrari driver will not have to take part in Friday’s first Free Practice session at Interlagos, with Ferrari reserve driver Dino Beganovic taking his place.

Further illness absence after Mexico

Stroll’s absence follows several drivers missing commitments through illness during the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.
Kimi Antonelli and Valtteri Bottas both sat out Thursday’s media day, with Mercedes confirming that the Italian was recovering from a viral illness. The illness did not affect Antonelli too much as he went on to become Formula 1's youngest champion in Mexico, finishing P3 behind Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli.
Sergio Perez also missed Friday’s fan forum at his home event after also falling ill. Cadillac allowed him additional time to rest ahead of practice, with his participation in the on-track sessions unaffected.
