Ferrari are set to make a New Years' resolution before returning for the 2020 season. Mattia Binotto has suggested that the team will no longer have number one and number two drivers and that instead, both will be equal from the first race in Australia.
Sebastian Vettel started the 2019 season as Ferrari's number one driver but was under pressure from Charles Leclerc almost immediately. The Monégasque ended up beating the four-time world champion in the driver's standings and has earnt equal ratings ahead of 2020.
"As soon as we go to Australia, there will be no more number one. We will come back stronger next year. We will take time every race to discuss all possible scenarios with our drivers," Binotto said to Kronen Zeitung.
It is thought that the relationship between Vettel and Leclerc has been quite tense this season and Ferrari will hope that giving them both equal status will make things better at the team.
