Dr Helmut Marko claims Red Bull are "closer" to re-signing Australian Daniel Ricciardo for the 2019 season. The 29-year-old was linked with McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes in previous weeks. But now, his current team looks likely to be his destination.
Last week, Red Bull had announced their deal with Honda which will start next season. Marko says the team can focus on the drivers' contracts now that is out of the way.
"We've had more discussions recently we're getting closer to each other. To speak in Mercedes jargon, it's just about the details," the Austrian said in an interview on this is F1.
Daniel Ricciardo is currently 3rd in the World Championship after wins at Monaco and China. Marko went on to confirm some small parts of the Honda deal are yet to be finalised.
"A few details must be fine-tuned, but we have had a close relationship with Toro Rosso and Honda," added Marko.

"For the first time, we are becoming a factory team. And in resources and methodology, we recognise Honda as the most promising option. We can go for victories with Honda in 2019."
