Helmut Marko has cast serious doubt over the future of Brendan Hartley and admits current positions need to be reviewed. He described the situation as “not pleasing” in his latest interview. The New Zealander made his debut in Formula 1 late last season.
“The situation around Brendon is not pleasing,” Marko said to Speed Week.
“We will go through this in peace and see what we can do in the future.”
It’s unsurprising his boss isn’t happy with is 2018 performance. Hartley has only scored one point in this year's championship whilst being in the shadow of team-mate Gasly.
Gasly has scored 18 points so far this season, including a 4th place finish in Bahrain.
Going into the Monaco Grand Prix, Hartley claimed he was surprised to hear these rumours surrounding his dismissal.
Robert Kubica, this morning, was rumoured to be lining up for the seat at Toro Rosso. The current Williams test and reserve driver has been absent from F1 for 10 years following a serious injury.
Pascal Wehrlein, Antonio Gioinazzi, Jake Dennis and Sean Galael have all be named as possible replacements should Hartley depart.
