Logan Sargeant has now committed to a new challenge after he was let go by Williams earlier this season. The American will compete in the European Le Mans Series next season, signing a a deal with the new LMP2 team of Genesis and IDEC Sport.
Genesis fall under Hyundai, which manfucturer have already announced their intention to also enter the WEC in 2026 with a hypercar. It will then also enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Genesis have big plans, as a year later they are also scheduled to participate in IMSA - the American counterpart of the WEC. Possibly Sargeant's LMP2 seat is the pre-sequel to a role as a full-time hypercar driver in 2026.
He will drive the #18 LMP2 car of the team together next season with Jamie Chadwick and French talent Mathys Jaubert for Genesis. The American will have to chance to compete at tracks already familiar to him, including Barcelona, Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone.
The American made his debut for Williams in 2023, replacing Nicholas Latifi. However, after the Dutch GP of the current season, he was let go by Williams and replaced by Franco Colapinto.
