Arvid Lindblad looked very assured behind the wheel of Yuki Tsunoda's Red Bull in first practice at Silverstone.
The British driver has been developed by the Red Bull junior team and has had a meteoric rise up the junior ladder.
Lindblad went straight from Italian F4 to FIA F3 last year and has already won two races so far in Formula 2.
He got the opportunity to compete in FP1 for the first time at Silverstone and set the 14th quickest time, just half a second behind teammate Max Verstappen.
Lindblad said after the session: "Considering it was my first time in this car and I have only done very limited running in an F1 car I think it was a successful session. This weekend, F1 is about 13 or 14 seconds quicker than F2, so the step is enormous, but I am quite happy with the job I did today.
"Oracle Red Bull Racing have been really supportive, and I have been working closely with the engineers for a little while now, getting up to speed and understanding the game and level here in F1. After the session was done, I really wanted to get another go straight away!
"Basically no one else in the world has the opportunity I got today to drive an F1 car. I am just fully focussed on working hard and doing a good job in F2 to be a full-time F1 driver soon."

Lindblad needs to keep delivering in F2

Lindblad has been very impressive over his junior career and has managed significant jumps in performance with maturity.
Formula 2 is the final step on the ladder and a plethora of young drivers have graduated from that series into F1.
He currently sits sixth in the standings in his rookie F2 season and has been consistently in the top 10 apart from a blip in Austria.
