Red Bull is struggling by their lofty standards this season, particularly as Yuki Tsunoda isn't keeping up with Max Verstappen over a race distance.
This often leaves the Dutchman fighting one-handed at the sharp end of the field, with Tsunoda not matching his pace.
The Japanese driver hasn't scored a point in the last four races as Red Bull sit in a lowly fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.
Tsunoda isn't performing at the required level, and Red Bull's junior driver, Arvid Lindblad, has an opportunity to impress this weekend.
The British driver will replace Tsunoda in first practice ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
This is a significant opportunity for Lindblad, who has been embedded within the junior team at Red Bull for almost five years.
He has rapidly ascended the ranks and went straight from Italian F4 to FIA F3, skipping regional series such as GB3 or FRECA.
Lindblad has driven admirably this season in Formula 2 as he adapts to more power and more downforce.
The British driver has already taken two wins for Campos, including the all-important Feature Race in Spain.

Lindblad ready to grasp his opportunity in front of his home crowd

Lindblad is driving superbly this year, but will have a lot to learn behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.
He said in the Red Bull press release: "I am very excited to be driving during FP1, driving in an official F1 session is going to be a very special moment, it is something I have dreamt of for a long time. To get a first taste of F1 with Oracle Red Bull Racing as well, after being with the Junior Programme for almost five years, is really special to me.
"This is an amazing opportunity, and I am super grateful to everybody at Oracle Red Bull Racing for it. And to be making my F1 debut as a British driver, on a British track, in front of a British crowd, is going to be really amazing.
"My aim is to get up to speed in the car really quickly, get Yuki good data to help him across the weekend, lead the Team in a good direction and try to drive quickly as well! I can’t wait to hit the track and get going."
