Yuki Tsunoda had an unfortunate crash during Saturday's qualifying session for the Imola Grand Prix. His former teammate, Liam Lawson, weighs in on the cost of racing at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
After the session, Lawson said he saw Tsunoda’s crash on the screens. The race coverage shows that Lawson was relatively close to the crash when it happened.

'A driver's track'

Lawson said, "We all as drivers like this track. We like driving on old school circuits that are high risk, very high commitment.”
The Imola track is a high-risk track, as its history includes two life-ending crashes. Both Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger died in 1994 after crashing at the track.
Lawson continued, “You know you're placing your wheel on the edge of the white line where there's grass next to it in so many places, and you're going to qualify, and you take that last 1%, and sometimes this is the price.”
“You never want to see a crash like that. Obviously glad that he’s alright, but that's what can happen on a circuit like this.”
