Ferrari contracts Ilott as third driver

Calum Ilott has been confirmed by Ferrari as their third driver. Earlier today the 22-year-old Brit drove for Alfa Romeo in the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, but from now on he can start working for the big brother Ferrari.

Ilott drove last season in Formula 2 and finished second behind champion Mick Schumacher who will be on the grid for Haas in 2021. "I am very excited to become the new Ferrari test driver. There is still a lot to learn, 2021 will be an exciting year and an important step towards a regular Formula 1 seat for me," said Ilott to Speedweek.com.

So in Abu Dhabi today Ilott drove the Young Driver Test for Alfa Romeo. "It’s been an amazing day. I am grateful to Alfa Romeo and Ferrari for this opportunity." He says he really enjoyed it. "It took a lot of focus to keep performing at this level, in such a powerful car, but it’s been really good.” Ilott drove a total of 93 laps and finished eighth.
