Lando Norris has secured Pole Position for the Hungarian GP, giving himself the best possible chance of victory around the Hungaroring, often labelled 'Monaco without the walls.'
Pole-sitter Norris' quickest lap time in Q3 was enough to edge out Lewis Hamilton and his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Hamilton, however, will be visiting the stewards over an alleged impeding incident involving the seven-time world champion and McLaren's Oscar Piastri.
Q3 ended under dramatic circumstances, with Max Verstappen spinning as the final laps were well underway, before Mercedes' George Russell came to a halt on track at Turn 1. Russell's Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli is also under investigation for an alleged yellow flag infringement.
Speaking immediately after securing Pole Position, Norris said: "Very happy to be back on top. A tough qualifying. These guys [Ferrari] were very quick. It's been tight the whole weekend but we seemed quick from the first laps we did and we brought a few upgrades.

"It's hard to know how much it helps in terms of lap time but it certainly helped today. Very happy to be back on top, especially at a track where you certainly want to be on pole."
Q2 also saw tense moments for Antonelli and Leclerc, with both squeezing themselves out of the drop zone with late laps. British rookie Arvid Linblad secured his third Q3 finish in four races, but his Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson just missed out on making the final 10. The Kiwi joined Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto, Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto, Haas' Esteban Ocon, and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso in the Q2 drop zone.
A milestone moment at the back of the grid with Alonso getting Aston Martin into Q2 for the very first time all season - aided by a whopping 16 upgrades brought to his AMR26 this weekend. His teammate Lance Stroll was not as fortunate, failing to make it out of Q1 ahead of the two Cadillac drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, but behind Williams duo Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, and Haas' Ollie Bearman.
