Championship leader Kimi Antonelli extends advantage over team-mate George Russell after third straight win: here’s how the 2026 F1 drivers’ standings look after the Miami Grand Prix.
The Italian driver had once again made a poor start, but thanks to the pace advantage of his Mercedes he gradually fought his way back through the field, eventually passing Norris for the lead around the halfway stage. Antonelli then held onto top spot until the chequered flag, further extending his championship advantage over Russell, who once again finished outside the podium places.
Another strong race from the reigning world champion, who finished second after leading for much of the Grand Prix and having already taken victory in Saturday’s sprint race.
A superb recovery drive from Max Verstappen, who spun at Turn 1 on the opening lap but somehow escaped without damage before charging back through the field thanks to a strong Red Bull strategy. The Dutchman also capitalised on the safety car triggered by Isack Hadjar to work his way back into contention and eventually hold onto a decent sixth finish at the chequered flag. Oscar Piastri completed the podium, with Charles Leclerc suffering a spin in the final lap.
Below are the updated drivers’ standings following the Miami Grand Prix.
