Aston Martin CEO Andy Cowell commented on the late-race episode between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, which left the Spaniard visibly furious.
“I guess at the point we saw that Lewis had a problem, it was sort of 'give it everything.'
- Andy Cowell
Asked whether the “angry Alonso” version is the best one of the two-time world champion, Cowell replied: “I think we’re all like that, aren’t we?”
And speaking about the tense closing stages between Hamilton and Alonso, the Briton added: “I guess at the point we saw that Lewis had a problem, it was sort of 'give it everything.' Niki Lauda used to have a phrase for that.
Counting it down for Fernando, who was pushing hard. Lewis showed his competitiveness, didn’t he? To bring the car home. And I think the penalty is about the right sort of magnitude, isn’t it?”
Finally, when asked if he had noticed Hamilton cutting multiple corners on the final lap, Cowell concluded: “It was flashing up, track limits. There were several track limit alerts, so the FIA were already on to it.”

Alonso erupts against Hamilton over radio

Hamilton was called to the stewards for a suspected violation of Article 33.3 of the FIA Sporting Regulations — leaving the track without justification at 21:41 — after suffering brake problems in the final laps that forced him to give up positions to both Antonelli and Leclerc.
Managing a wounded car to the finish, the Briton cut multiple corners while trying to maintain control, ultimately crossing the line just ahead of Alonso. The narrow gap reignited tensions, with the Spaniard unleashing a furious radio rant directed at his engineer.
Alonso also reignited criticism over what he saw as inconsistent stewarding, recalling Saturday’s incident when Hamilton accelerated under red flag conditions in FP3 yet avoided any form of penalty.
