Hamilton: "Maybe they should reconsider that rule"

Lewis Hamilton disagrees with Sebastian Vettel. The Mercedes driver stands up for his teammate Valtteri Bottas. Vettel says that Bottas should have pushed earlier at the front so that the mega-crash could have been prevented.

Carlos Sainz, Antonio Giovinazzi, Kevin Magnussen and Nicholas Latifi were involved in the crash at the back of the pack. But according to Hamilton, the blame lies with the FIA and not with Bottas, who was allowed to set the pace of the race at the time.

"It is absolutely not Valtteri's fault. It is the policymakers, they are clearly trying to make things more exciting, but today you have seen that that puts people in danger. Maybe they should reconsider that rule," Hamilton said in the press conference after the Tuscan Grand Prix.

According to Hamilton, the late arrival of the safety car contributed to the crash. "They turned off the safety car lights later and later. We are fighting for positions. Especially when you deserve that position, like Valtteri deserved to be in the lead," concludes the six-time world champion.
