Lando Norris’ strong Canadian GP weekend came to a sad end when his rear brakes caught fire and seemed to melt his suspension, in an incident that hasn’t been fully worked out yet.
The young Brit battled with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the early laps and was running strongly before the problem that ended his race.
It was first thought that Norris had bumped the wall somewhere, causing damage, but he says that this was not the case.
He told Racefans.net: “No you can check all my laps, I never hit the wall.
“It started with the brakes going long or not working basically, and that’s all I know.

“From then on obviously the thing happened over the line. I don’t even know what happened, I thought I had a puncture or something.
“I got close to the wall but I didn’t hit the wall, nothing happened. It’s a mystery at the moment because the guys can’t see anything in the data either.”
