Steiner compares Hamilton to Marc Marquez: 'They are both good at that'

After serving as Haas' team principal in Formula 1, Steiner is now the CEO and team owner of Tech3 in MotoGP.

After spending considerable time in the MotoGP paddock, Steiner was asked which Formula 1 driver Marc Marquez compares to most closely.

The Tech3 boss said to Motosprint: "It's difficult because I've never been asked this question. He seems a bit like Hamilton to me, given that he's very good at going fast when needed but also at managing his image. He doesn't manage it like Lewis because he's unique, but he's good, and obviously he's won a lot."

At the moment, Marquez is doing something Max Verstappen did during the 2025 season: mounting a comeback in the title race after trailing the championship leader by more than 100 points.

After the Italian Grand Prix, the Spaniard was 102 points behind Marco Bezzecchi in the standings. Having won two Sprints and three Grands Prix since then, he now trails current championship leader Jorge Martin by just 18 points.

Marquez is also recovering from his injury. He previously explained: "In Assen, we knew from the start that we would have to grit our teeth and suffer, but we still managed to manage the situation and score important points for the Championship."

He added: "I feel like I'm not the strongest one and I'm not the fastest one, but [it's like] nobody wants to be the fastest one. So at the moment, it's five names in the championship that are fighting every race there."
