Turkish supertalent and Yamaha rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu has given his assessment of pre-season testing, as well as offering an interesting insight into how he can find the limits of the bike. The three-time WSBK champion has been one of the most exciting additions to the MotoGP grid in recent seasons, but it hasn't been the most positive pre-season for El Turco.
So far, the Pramac Yamaha signing has struggled to adapt to the vastly different tyre compounds in MotoGP, which he has
admitted has been a struggle.
Maybe I need to crash to understand the limit.
- Toprak RazgatliogluDespite the frustration, Toprak clearly still feels that he is yet to find the limit when pushing the bike.
Teammate Jack Miller has been
doing his best to help Toprak settle in, and let the Turk follow him for a lap of Sepang, which Toprak described as being an eye-opening experience:
"When I was following Jack, I was surprised, because I was losing a lot in the first corner, the first sector in general, [...] On braking it’s ok, but when I lean, I don’t know the limit. When I saw Jack at the first corner, he’s leaning a lot.
"Firstly, I’m waiting for his crash, and after when I see he’s turning I’m also surprised." explained the WSBK champion.

"On the brakes, I can do hard braking, but when I am leaning, I don’t really trust the front tyre because the other riders lean completely and the bike turns, while I’m leaning and just waiting because I’m already waiting to lose the front tyre."
"Still, I haven’t crashed, but maybe I need to crash to understand the limit."
The Thai Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend where Toprak will make his MotoGP debut. The full schedule and where to watch
