Marc Marquez takes pole position in Jerez after tricky qualifying session

The grid is set for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez and it was Marc Marquez who took pole position.
The session, which took place under tricky mixed conditions, saw both Gresini riders Fermin Aldeguer and Alex Marquez crash out, along with Aprilia's Jorge Martin - who also faced a 3-place grid penalty after riding slowly on the racing line in Friday Practice.
Johann Zarco almost stole the top spot but made a mistake at the final corner and remained in P2. Fabio Di Giannantonio makes up the front row.
Joan Mir was also handed a double long lap penalty for failing to follow a black-and-orange flag which was waved for him due to debris falling from his crashed Honda and causing a hazard on the circuit.
It was another disappointing day for Yamaha as not a single one of their five riders made it out of Q1 - however, Augusto Fernandez posted the fastest time of the lot - which could be a promising sign for their development.
