Aprilia's Jorge Martin has been handed a three-place grid penalty after today's afternoon practice session. The Spanish rider has been accused of riding too slowly on the racing line.
Martin, who was tipped as one of the favourites coming into the weekend, has not had a good start on Friday in Jerez. In addition to crashing twice during Timed Practice this afternoon, the 2024 world champion has now been hit with a 3-place grid penalty to take effect after qualifying.
The Spaniard's pace was not as it was in the opening three rounds, and he finished the day in P9 overall. Fortunately, he still made it through to the Q2 session tomorrow.
