In F1 Today, you will find the two best stories from yesterday, Wednesday 24 December 2025. Ralf Schumacher has named
Max Verstappen and his brother
Michael Schumacher as the two best drivers he has seen in Formula 1. Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, the former Williams driver said the pairing would be his ultimate choice based purely on driving skill.
Schumacher stated that he believes the two would get along well due to their high level and sensible approach, while also predicting a competitive dynamic between them.
He highlighted their shared ability to perform under pressure, consistently outperform their teammates, and extract the maximum from both car and team. Schumacher described these qualities as what separates them from others in Formula 1 history.
Michael Schumacher won seven world championships during his career, including five titles with Ferrari. Verstappen has so far secured four Formula 1 world championships with Red Bull Racing.
The
FIA has amended the wording of its fuel-flow measurement regulations ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season as it seeks to prevent potential exploitation of the new system. From 2026, Formula 1 will switch to 100% sustainable fuel and replace the existing dual 100kg/h fuel-flow sensors with a single 300MJ/h fuel energy flow meter supplied by Allegra.
A change in the regulations explicitly forbids teams from intentionally heating or cooling the fuel-flow meter. The wording was later expanded following the FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Tashkent, stating that any device, system or procedure intended to change the temperature of the fuel-flow meter is prohibited, leaving the door open for alterations of a consequential nature.
The revisions come amid reports that teams have been exploring the new fuel-flow measurement framework in search of performance gains. The FIA has stated it remains committed to enforcing both the wording and the intended spirit of the 2026 regulations.
