Red Bull Racing have confirmed the appointment of Alistair David Rew as the replacement for veteran advisor Helmut Marko, but who exactly is the man stepping into the veteran Austrian’s shoes?
Marko’s resignation made headlines following the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen narrowly lost the title to Lando Norris by just two points. Marko himself appeared to shoulder some of the responsibility for Verstappen’s near-miss, admitting that the team had not provided a car capable of challenging McLaren for the championship.
Following this shock exit, Red Bull moved swiftly to appoint Alistair David Rew as their new statutory director. But who is Rew?

The 62-year-old is a British finance expert, as well as a seasoned accountant who has spent much of his career in motorsport and automotive finance. He previously held positions as Account Director at Monarch Cars (Tamworth) Limited between April 2002 and September 2003, and a similar role at Mercedes-Benz Solihull Limited during the same period.
Before joining Red Bull, Rew was at Legend Investment Limited and later ventured into Red Technology Limited. Since 2007, he has served as Chief Financial Officer at Red Bull, a role he continues to hold, and he was recently registered as a director with Companies House.
In addition, Rew also holds directorships across Red Bull’s sporting divisions, including Advanced Technologies and Powertrains.

Marko confident about Red Bull’s 2026 prospects

Earlier, Marko himself expressed confidence in the prospects of the Red Bull Racing outfit for 2026. The Austrian native pointed to the current leadership of the team as a key reason behind his confidence.
Marko singled out Laurent Mekies and Alan Permane as individuals he is assured can continue to steer the Red Bull Formula 1 family in the right direction.
