Montezemolo doesn't believe Ferrari can win

Former Ferrari president Luca Montezemolo has made a pointed remark about the Scuderia’s current situation, suggesting Italian football club Bologna would win a title before Ferrari.
After Bologna’s defeat in the Italian Supercoppa final, Montezemolo was asked whether Bologna or Ferrari would claim silverware first. He replied: “With the current climate in Maranello, Bologna will win first.” Bologna last won the Serie A title in 1964.
Montezemolo was part of Ferrari’s most recent drivers’ championship success in 2007, when Kimi Räikkönen secured the title. Ferrari has since endured its longest title drought, failing to win either the drivers’ or constructors’ championship between 2008 and 2025.
The most recent season was among Ferrari’s most difficult in years, with the team failing to secure a race victory and recording only seven podium finishes across 24 Grands Prix.

Wolff says Mercedes 2026 outlook not comparable to dominant 2014 season

Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff has stated that the early signs ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 regulations are not comparable to the team’s experience in 2014.
Wolff recalled having a strong feeling of confidence ahead of the 2014 season, when Mercedes was the first team to run a full car dyno and demonstrated superior reliability during the opening days of testing. He said that situation differs significantly from the current one, adding that the grid is now far more competitive.
Wolff explained that Mercedes has set internal targets for the 2026 project and believes the team is on track to meet them, but acknowledged it is difficult to judge whether those targets are ambitious enough. The first 2026 pre-season test will take place in Barcelona in around eight weeks. Wolff said Mercedes’ goal is to produce a car and power unit that are competitive.
