Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo were teammates at Red Bull Racing for almost three seasons between 2016 and 2018. They still get along very well and prior to the United States Grand Prix, the two drivers were paired up at the press conference by the FIA. Naturally, there were plenty of jokes again.
"Such a shame we'll never share a room again," Verstappen laughs, before being complemented by the Australian: "Definitely, the first year I had a lot of trouble sleeping." The Red Bull driver from Limburg responds as follows: "That was indeed difficult, yes. Nightmares, everything." Ricciardo: "I woke up with a damp pillow for a long time. Turned out I was crying in my sleep every night."
The battle for the world title also comes up for discussion according to the Algemeen Dagblad. Ricciardo likes the fact that Verstappen is in a position to take his first championship. According to the McLaren driver, Verstappen is now mature enough. "There was that phase where Max was sometimes still a bit too eager, made mistakes. In 2018 you saw that change, that maturity came in. And he's ready for it now. I'm sure Max is capable of taking the title."

No title Ricciardo

Ricciardo himself is still waiting for his first world title in the premier class of motor sport. It has always been his biggest dream, but last week Ricciardo indicated that he has accepted the situation and is 'at peace' with the fact that he will never win the F1 title.
