Another girl on the way of Piquet family, but who are Nelson Piquet Jr. and his wife?

After the birth of little Lily, Max Verstappen’s first daughter and Kelly Piquet’s second—following Penelope from her previous relationship with Daniil Kvyat—the Piquet family is ready to welcome a new baby girl.

This time, the new addition will come from Nelson Piquet Jr. and Patsy Zurita, who recently shared the exciting news during a gender reveal event in Monaco.

Nelson Piquet Jr. is Kelly Piquet’s brother and the son of three-time F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet. In 2008, he raced in Formula 1’s top tier as Fernando Alonso’s teammate at Renault.

Midway through 2009, the Brazilian announced that the team no longer wanted him. In an open letter, he accused Flavio Briatore of favoring Alonso. Piquet Jr. was then replaced by Romain Grosjean.

He was also involved in the infamous “Crashgate” scandal at Singapore. After being dismissed, Piquet Jr. revealed he had been asked to deliberately crash to trigger a safety car, helping Alonso secure the win. Though Briatore and Pat Symonds initially denied the allegations as retaliation, Renault later fired both that same year.

After leaving Formula 1, the Brazilian transitioned to American NASCAR in 2010. During the 2014-2015 season, Piquet Jr. became the inaugural Formula E champion.

In December 2023, Piquet Jr. married Patsy Zurita. The couple is now expecting their first child. Following their gender reveal event in Monaco, it was confirmed that, after the birth of Lily, the Piquet family will soon welcome another baby girl.

Patsy Zurita is a Brazilian model and professional equestrian. Among her accomplishments, she is a world champion in youth equestrian sports and an American champion in horse riding.
