Mick Schumacher will take time to get used to the car during his first Grands Prix in 2021, Mattia Binotto expects. The 51-year-old Italian estimates that Schumacher junior will find a steep learning curve driving Formula 1 cars.
"I think it will be very difficult for him at the start," Binotto is quoted by the Reuters news agency. Ferrari's team boss suspects that the young German will need some adjustment time. “If I look at his past experience in both F2 and F3, normally he is delivering his best in the second season and not the first."
The boss would like to explain that statement. "I think Mick, the way he has developed himself, is learning a lot on the first season and becomes very strong in the second half of the second season. That’s why I think two seasons will be important for him." Schumacher has a multi-season contract with Haas F1. After 2022 the contract of Carlos Sainz will end at Ferrari and Schumacher may be able to follow in his father's footsteps.
