Both Mercedes and Aston Martin have received a €100 for speeding in the pit lane during FP2 at the Monaco GP. The drivers involved are Kimi Antonelli and Fernando Alonso. The pit lane speed limit has been set at 60km/h at the Monaco GP, with both the youngest driver on the grid, Antonelli, and the oldest in Alonso going just over it during the second practice session.
As per the FIA's statement, Antonelli was a painstaking 0.1km/h over that limit, with Alonso 0.5km/h over. They both receive a €100 fine, just like Antonelli's Mercedes teammate George Russell did
for the same infringement in FP1. Hamilton tops FP2 in Ferrari one-two
It was Russell who finished ahead of Antonelli in FP2, but the Ferraris caught everyone's attention during the session.
Lewis Hamilton's lap time of 1:13.026 was enough to edge out Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen after the second hour of practice during FP2.
It only took 15 minutes of action before Lando Norris' session was over, as his MCL40 lost power at the Nouvelle chicane. Luckily, only the VSC came out, with action quickly underway thanks to good work by the trackside crew.
Speaking during the session, McLaren CEO Zak Brown said: "We need to investigate it. He lost all power. It looks like it might be battery related but we need to look into it.
"It is what it is. We won't get back out, so we will have to diagnose it, replace it and go again tomorrow morning."
The Red Flag did eventually feature though, after Sergio Perez's front right brake caught fire with just five minutes to go.
