F1 Full Results | Lewis Hamilton tops sole Free Practice session at British GP

Hamilton's lap time of 1:29.260 was enough to edge out Antonelli ahead of Sprint Qualifying later today - Silverstone hosts its first Sprint weekend since the first-ever F1 Sprint in 2021.

With only 60 minutes of practice available to teams at a circuit starved of energy harvesting opportunities, track action was unsurprisingly quick to get underway - Red Bull's Isack Hadjar impressing to take P1 in the first twenty minutes with a 1:30.969 - just over a tenth ahead of Mercedes' Antonelli.

By the halfway point, however, Antonelli had regained his spot at the top of the timing charts, going two tenths quicker than the Frenchman. George Russell, taking his time to get involved with the frontrunners was two tenths down in P3. Meanwhile, the Ferrari duo Leclerc and Hamilton were running P4 and P5 respectively.

With 25 minutes to go, Hamilton went top by two and a half tenths, just before a dramatic moment for McLaren's Oscar Piastri. The Aussie made contact with the kerb through Chapel and spun - thankfully the 25-year-old was able to use the run-off area, return to the pits, and continue track action.

In the closing ten minutes, the grid moved onto soft tyres, and it did not take long for Antonelli to impress - the Italian took P1 off his teammate Russell to go top by nearly half a second. Hamilton, however, immediately took top spot back by two tenths on the teenage sensation, a whopping six tenths ahead of teammate Leclerc.

In fourth came Russell, followed by Piastri, Verstappen and Lando Norris, respectively. Rounding out the top ten were Hadjar, Audi's Nico Hulkenberg, and Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson.
