As the Miami GP fades into history, GPblog takes one last look back at the main talking points to come out of Florida - from the potential impact of Kimi Antonelli's third consecutive victory at Mercedes, to the season's top five driver pairings so far - all covered in the latest episode of GPBlog F1 Paddock Update.
He may only be 19, but Kimi Antonelli has once again showed up his Mercedes teammate George Russell with a third win on the bounce delivered in Miami. The young Italian now leads Russell by 20 points in the Drivers' standings, as the youngest championship leader in F1's history.
What impact will this have at Mercedes? As our hosts Jim Kimberley and Ben Hunt dubbing Antonelli as team principal Toto Wolff's 'golden child', the Silver Arrows boss has backed Russell to fight back in the title fight, labelling the 28-year-old as a "killer," despite his P4 finish in Miami.
After the race, Wolff said: "George is a killer, OK? And what makes him so good is that he never stops fighting and never ducking, and you saw that throughout the junior formula and here in F1. He is going for this and not going to leave any stone unturned, and I have no doubt the two of them are going to fight for points all season.”

Also in Miami, we saw the grid as close as it has ever been in 2026, with McLaren and Red Bull each bringing seven upgrades to Florida, and Ferrari going even further with 11. Saturday saw McLaren on top in the Sprint Race thanks to their one-two delivered by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, respectively, while Red Bull's Verstappen shocked the paddock with his P2 Qualifying finish later on.
While McLaren team boss Andrea Stella still believes Mercedes are the frontrunners in 2026, he has admitted the "competitive picture has changed" after Miami - the papaya team missed out on a victory for Norris by just under four seconds, and the story could have been different had the world champion been pitted a lap earlier ahead of Antonelli.

With performance at the top of the grid converging closer and closer, and Max Verstappen's F1 future the subject of increasing speculation, the Miami GP has our hosts wondering who has the best driver pairing in F1.
Is it the title-winning duo at McLaren of Norris and Oscar Piastri, or would the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, and Ferrari's 'Il Predestinato' Charles Leclerc come out on top if the machinery was equal between the two sides?
Find out what our hosts had to say on the latest episode!
