Since a few weeks Williams is officially owned by the investment company Dorilton Capital. The Williams name will live on, but the Williams family will not be involved in the team after the Italian Grand Prix. That was a difficult decision, but one that is respected by both parties.
"We know the team is in good hands with them and the Williams name will live on," Claire Williams said in her statement. "This may be the end of an era for Williams as a family run team, but it is the beginning of a new era for Williams Racing and we wish them much succes in the future."

Williams could secure future of team

The words of Matthew Savage, chairman of Dorilton Capital, also show that the takeover was carried out with the consent of both parties. "We full respect the very tough decision of Claire and the Williams family to step away from the team and the business after securing new resources for the future."
The Williams team have been on the brink of financial collapse for several years, with last season even Robert Kubica in the pits a few times because they didn't want to risk broken parts. Williams has been able to postpone an acquisition for a long time, but the corona crisis now seems to have given the final push.
