Williams brings renowned K-pop star into F1 with special collaboration

Tzuyu, whose full name is Chou Tzu-yu, is a Taiwanese singer and dancer born on 14 June 1999 in Tainan. She is best known as one of the nine members of TWICE, the popular K-pop girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. As the youngest member of the group, Tzuyu holds the position of maknae and has become one of TWICE’s most recognisable figures since their debut in 2015.

Her path to becoming a K-pop star began when she was discovered in Taiwan and later moved to South Korea to train under JYP Entertainment. Tzuyu subsequently appeared on SIXTEEN, the survival programme created to determine the members of the agency’s new girl group. She successfully made it through the competition and was selected as one of the nine members of TWICE, officially beginning her career with the group in 2015.

Tzuyu has expressed her excitement about the collaboration between Williams and DAN DA DAN, highlighting the unusual combination of Formula 1, anime and music. She described the project as a distinctive opportunity to bring together three different forms of entertainment and connect with audiences around the world.

Speaking about Williams specifically, Tzuyu praised the team’s strong reputation within Formula 1 and its iconic status in the sport. She also pointed to the creative potential of bringing Williams and DAN DA DAN together, particularly through the contrast between the team’s racing identity and the anime’s distinctive visual style and storytelling.

Luke Timmins, Merchandise and Licensing Director at Atlassian Williams F1 Team, also shared his thoughts on the collaboration with Tzuyu. He described her involvement as a particularly exciting part of the project, pointing to her voice as a natural fit for the concept of “supernatural speed” at the heart of the collaboration.

Timmins also highlighted the opportunity to take the Williams brand beyond its traditional Formula 1 audience and connect with millions of new fans around the world. He added that the team is looking forward to seeing the song brought to life as the collaboration comes together.
