The sixth race of the 2025 season kicks off this weekend at the Miami Grand Prix, with the title fight shaping up to be yet another classic. Here is the full schedule for the first Grand Prix weekend in America.

Chaotic Sprint and Verstappen taking pole position for the Miami GP

Saturday was quite an eventful day in Miami. First, the Sprint began roughly half an hour later than planned due to the weather conditions. After a chaotic session, Lando Norris claimed all eight points thanks to a Safety Car that was caused by Liam Lawson putting Fernando Alonso in the wall.
Oscar Piastri finished in second place, while Lewis Hamilton completed the podium after a great strategy call by the seven-time world champion.
Max Verstappen didn't score a single point during the Sprint, after he received a ten-second penalty for an unsafe release by the Red Bull pit crew, where he also made contact with Kimi Antonelli in the pit lane. The Dutchman was not happy with his team and in an exclusive interview with GPblog, Helmut Marko agreed with the driver.
Verstappen's fortune changed in Qualifying, after the Dutchman managed to claim pole position just ahead of Norris and Antonelli. Championship leader Piastri will start from fourth place on the grid.

Antonelli surprises with Sprint Qualifying pole position

Andrea Kimi Antonelli will start the Sprint in Miami from pole position, after a stunning lap by the young Italian. The Mercedes driver was very happy with his lap, and he now has the record for being the youngest and only teenager to claim pole position for a Sprint or a Grand Prix, breaking Sebastian Vettel's record from 2008.

Verstappen's daughter might be older than we thought?

Max Verstappen has arrived to Miami on Friday. In his first interview, the Dutchman already said that he could spend the last few days with his partner Kelly Piquet, and their daughter Lily.
Talking exclusively to GPblog, Red Bull Racing top advisor Helmut Marko also talked about Verstappen's baby. The Austrian also said: "I mean if you look at the genes, she must be fantastic. But first of all you have to see what she wants. Maybe she wants to become a model or become a lawyer or whatsoever. I mean she's a couple of days old, so it's very early days."

Verstappen misses media day expecting the birth of his first child

On Thursday ahead of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, GPblog reported that the Dutchman does not have press moment scheduled. Afterwards, Red Bull Racing also confirmed that the defending world champion missed media day because of due to his first child's arrival.

McLaren looking to emulate 2024 success

Last year, the Miami Grand Prix was a key event in the 2024 season, changing the complexion of the title battle in its entirety with Lando Norris' victory.
The Brit crossed the line in P1 to take his first-ever win in the pinnacle of motorsport, also giving McLaren their first win in two-and-a-half years to catapult themselves to the front of the grid, going on to win the 2024 constructors' championship that year.
This year, the papaya-coloured team emerged as clear favourites to retain their title, and with four wins out of five to start the season, they have done so, with Oscar Piatri taking three of them to lead the drivers' standings.
However, after a few struggles during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that saw McLaren have issues wth tyre degradation and second phase race pace, something they excelled at in 2024, the door is wide open for teams to challenge in Miami, setting up the potential for a fantastic race weekend.
