Lewis Hamilton has endured a frustrating start to his Ferrari tenure as he has lagged behind his teammate Charles Leclerc. The seven-time world champion has had a lot to adjust to, as it's the first time racing for an Italian team and the new power unit.
Hamilton has enjoyed some good results, but they have largely been flashes in the pan over the first 11 rounds.
He won the Sprint China and finished fourth in Imola, but they haven't been followed up effectively.
Last time out at the Red Bull Ring, Hamilton took another fourth place but there was more consistency over the weekend.
He qualified fourth and comfortably kept that position over George Russell as he benefited from Ferrari's new floor.
The British driver told GPBlog and others ahead of the
British Grand Prix how he has become more assured behind the wheel at Ferrari.
He said: "Obviously Charles been here for a long time and he's been a part of evolving developing this car he's very accustomed to it so and he likes to he's they've found and he's found one way in which the car works and I've tried all the other directions that should work but they just don't for whatever reason."
Austria was Hamilton's most assured weekend with Ferrari
"And I've slowly migrated to the position where, to the place where Charles does run the car and last week was the closest that I've been and our pace was the closest it's ever been so it is still tough, it's a tough balance to drive and it's not a comfortable one, it's not one that I want to have in future.
"So I'm working with Loic [Serra] and with all the guys at the factory to make sure that you know the next car will have naturally some of my DNA in it and hopefully we'll get, we'll be able to get some of the characteristics that I'm hoping to have in it for next year."
The
British Grand Prix this weekend has been an event Hamilton has excelled at with a record nine wins over his career.
He is yet to score a podium finish in the famous red suit and Hamilton's home race would be a timely event to claim a trophy.
