Verstappen summoned by stewards after brilliant Miami GP recovery drive

Verstappen’s hopes of fighting for victory took an early hit after the Dutchman spun at Turn 1 while battling the Ferrari driver for the lead, dropping him down the order despite avoiding any damage.

Red Bull then attempted to turn the race around by pitting Verstappen under the safety car triggered by his team-mate’s crash, allowing him to gain track position with an early stop. The move, however, quickly came under scrutiny after the Dutchman was noted for allegedly crossing the white line on pit exit during his rejoin. He is now required to report at 15:30 local time in Miami (20:30 UK time).

Despite everything, the four-time world champion produced an impressive recovery drive, carving his way back through the field and remaining in the fight for the podium until the closing laps, when heavily worn tyres left him vulnerable to both Piastri and Russell.

Kimi Antonelli secured a third consecutive victory after coming out on top in a chaotic Miami Grand Prix, overcoming another difficult start from pole position. The Italian dropped behind at the opening corner after a poor launch and was forced into an early recovery drive, while the race was neutralised on Lap 6 following Isack Hadjar’s heavy crash into the barriers.

The safety car and pit stop phase eventually helped Antonelli work his way back to the front, although he came under intense pressure from Lando Norris in the closing stages. Despite Norris appearing quicker in the final laps, the championship leader held firm to seal another victory and further strengthen his lead in the standings.
